I started painting the bathroom last Saturday, and got as far as finishing the first coat. I was sitting down, taking a break and waiting for the paint to dry when I started feeling not so great. "Not so great" rapidly turned into "I think I'm dying" and I didn't have the energy to even think about paint brushes again until yesterday. (Yesterday, I decided that chocolate chip cookies were more important. We made chocolate chip cookies.) So for a full week, our main bathroom looked like this:
You can't really tell in the picture, but it really needed a second coat of paint. Trust me, I definitely considered trying to get away with leaving it at one, because regardless of what I said before, I did think about this bathroom needing to be finished. I thought about it every time I wanted to use it, but couldn't, or needed something out of those drop-cloth-covered cabinets. But that's beside the point, which is that I got in there this morning and finished it, and when the paint was dry, Brandon helped me to get it put back together. YAY!!! This is what it looks like now:
I love it! Love it, love it, LOVE it! It's so nice to have some color in the house. It really makes me want to tackle another room, but I've had enough painting for a while. Besides, I haven't been able to make up my mind about any other colors.
Random pictures of Elora:
This is what she was doing a few days ago, when she was supposed to be taking a nap:
Instead of gently scolding her and putting her right back in bed, I went and got the camera. Then I put her back in bed. Can you blame me?
PS: I'm not at 100% yet, but I'm getting there, and Brandon's shoulder is much better. He probably shouldn't have messed with the mirror or the cabinet in that bathroom, but it ended up being ok.

Your bathroom is BEAUTIFUL. It's a great shade of blue!
ReplyDeleteWhen you said you felt so bad while painting I just have to say....... you shouldn't have. Even with no VOC a bathroom with no windows doesn't have enough ventilation. Not that I think you have harmed anything but don't do it again! Please! Jess and I got chewed out at the paint store for even having her in the house while I was painting with a no VOC. At first I wanted to be miffed cause like, would I try to harm my grandchild!? BUT why take a chance? She stayed well away downstairs and I painted. So, anyway, mom talk over. Love you Buh bye!
I had the vent on in there, and the door was open...mostly... But you're probably right. I should have ignored that particular itch until later.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy visiting here.

Great color in the bathroom! Congrads on getting one room done. Take your time picking the colors and getting them done, even if it takes a year!
ReplyDeleteThe whole no painting thing is SOOO annoying! I find it really rude that the companies are saying no voc and then you find out that the color additives have voc's in it... so you can paint you room white and be good... whose going to do that!! But I did see that some paints are even removing the voc's from the color additive... however still probably shouldn't paint... but I did with micah... and he's normal so far... :P ... you just have to watch out for grumpy people who lecture you... of course they probably let their kids near lead paint... hahaha....
ReplyDeleteAnyway I like that bathroom love the blue!
I'm glad you're having fun decorating!
ReplyDeleteI DID get the no VOC paint, but I had no idea there were VOCs in the color! Crazy! I'll have to ask at Lowe's to make sure. Either way, I don't intend to do any more painting until after the little one gets here.
